Nothing is as low maintenance as luxury vinyl flooring. Yet, we often hear it—people love this product because it offers so much value.

However, like anything else, the better you take care of it, the longer it will last. So, follow these simple tips, and your luxury vinyl flooring will look great and perform well for 25 years.

Sweep regularly

If possible, use a soft broom or dust mop every day. Get into corners and under appliances and cabinets–anywhere dirt can hide.
The reason this is so important is that the soil is sharp. Therefore, it can scratch and embed into your floors.

Mopping

Use a damp, not dripping mop on your vinyl plank flooring or tile (LVT flooring). Use a manufacturer-approved cleaner and avoid harsh chemicals and tools; you can find the suggested list on the warranty or manufacturer's website.

Avoid harsh chemicals, tools, and waxy, shine-promoting cleaners. They damage the finish and dull your floors. Change water frequently.

An excellent cleaner comes directly from your pantry. Combine a cup of apple cider or white vinegar with a gallon of warm water—the vinegar's acidic enough to break up the soil but not so much as to create damage.

General rule: mop the bathroom and kitchen every other week. This keeps your luxury vinyl flooring looking great.

Eliminating stains and spills

Most stains and spills can be removed with a baking soda/water paste. Apply, let it sit for a few minutes, and wipe with warm water.

Scuffs can be removed with a little WD 40. Most tougher stains can be removed with a bit of rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover–but always check with the manufacturer before proceeding.
